We've already received a few calls this year from customers who were scammed by out-of-state companies. These crews promised a deal, took payment, and then never came back to finish the job. It’s frustrating, costly, and unfortunately all too common.
If someone shows up at your door saying they have extra asphalt mix and can give you a great deal on your driveway—that’s a major red flag.
Here’s the truth:Reputable asphalt companies don’t typically have “extra” material. Asphalt is made fresh and jobs are carefully calculated so the right amount is brought to each site—nothing more, nothing less.
🛑 How to protect yourself:
✅ Stick with a local, reputable company—whether it’s NPM or someone else you trust. Local businesses rely on their reputation in the community, and they're much more likely to stand behind their work. Plus, if anything needs to be addressed after the job is done, you know exactly where to find them.
✅ Do your research. Take a few minutes to look up the company online. Check Google reviews, look at photos of their past work, and ask for references. A trustworthy contractor will never pressure you into making a decision on the spot—they’ll give you a written estimate, let you think it over, and answer any questions you have.
Let’s look out for each other and keep our neighborhoods safe from scams. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
